Why is it important to recycle plastic?

Why is it important to recycle plastic? | BargainBoxed.com

Plastic is one of those materials that can have a very negative impact on our environment. In fact, for every ton of plastic that we recycle, around 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space ends up being saved. Not only that, but there are millions of tons of plastic in the oceans, and we must address that situation as fast as possible. Because the quicker we do it and the faster we eliminate these problems, the better the situation will be for our planet.

Not only that, but if we recycle plastic, then this lowers the amount of energy used to produce plastic. We get to reuse it, which is extremely important for our planet and a great step forward that we really need to pursue here. After all, creating new plastic is a lot more energy-hungry when compared to creating plastic from existing plastic. That’s why we need to ensure that we recycle plastic, because this is one of those materials you can reuse as often as you want.

Recycling plastic also helps reduce the strain on the power grid. We also help save coal and oil, which means less emissions are generated too. All the little things matter and they do add up in the long run, which is exactly what you want to focus on here.

Around 90% of the plastic bottles are made from PET, used for fizzy drink or water bottles. Milk bottles use another material named HDPE. Condiments on the other hand are using PP bottles. Normally, an average house in the UK or the US tends to use around 500 plastic bottles per year, more or less. And as you can imagine, half of those, maybe less than that end up being recycled. That’s why we need to address the situation as fast as possible, otherwise there will be issues to deal with.

Why is recycling such an important aspect especially when it comes to plastic? As we said above, plastic is a burden for our planet. It damages the environment, since it can take hundreds of years for plastic to rebecome a part of the environment naturally. Simply put, all the plastic we throw in the environment is damaging our planet. And the more plastics we use, the worse it gets. If we don’t take action right now, then things will become dire for our planet.

That’s why we need to recycle plastics and ensure that we do everything in our power to reuse any plastics we can. That doesn’t mean it will be an easy thing to achieve. It will take a lot of trial and error to reach that point. But at the end of the day, we must commit to excellence and pursue the best experience and results. Will it be a hard thing to do? Maybe, but we have to try. What really matters is to work together towards a common goal, and that’s to recycle plastics as much as we can. It will take a while for everyone to come together, but we need to do this sooner rather than later.
